Jonathan Stack’s career as a documentary filmmaker has been defined by his access into forbidden and dangerous worlds, from Angola prison to Liberia. Now, after 20 years, he is entering into a new frontier. Jonathan is currently working on a comedic first-person documentary about vasectomies and a documentary about a Nigerian technology entrepreneur. In working on these two vastly different projects he is also experimenting with new ways to engage audiences online. In this master class, Jonathan maps out how his own career - beginning with The Farm, a documentary about prisoners in Louisiana’s Angola Prison, and ending with his current projects - has changed over the years. Through presenting a timeline of his own work, Jonathan shows how filmmakers can adapt to the new media landscape and continue to create compelling content.
