Description:

Al Jazeera Documentary Channel is an Arabic language documentary channel and a branch of the Al Jazeera network.

Launched on January 1, 2007, Al Jazeera Documentary Channel is the first of its kind in the Arab world.

It is dedicated to international documentary production, focusing on and exploring a wide range of contemporary topics. It offers a wide range of high-quality documentaries and features on culture, science, environment, history, travel, politics and the arts.

Aligned with the overall mission of the Al Jazeera Network flagship brand, Al Jazeera Documentary adopts a unique ‘edutainment’ approach in its human and culture-oriented content.

It produced more than 500 hours of documentary film between January 2007 and December 2010. By sponsoring talent and working in partnership with leaders in the documentary industry across the world, Al Jazeera Documentary aims to spread knowledge, and take its audience on a journey to explore cultures and experience the world in a new light. It also champions the promotion of the documentary culture in the Arab world and beyond.

Mostafa Nagy, Head of Programmes, Aljazeera Documentary Channel speaks about the channel's content flavours and the programs that work and don't work for audiences in the middle east.
